![]() ![]() ![]() Get another replacement rather then Best Buy or Lenovo first trying to fix the issue. I saw the same on another list where somebody apparently had some bad luck with first a Microsoft Surface and then a replacement Lenovo laptop, bought from Best Buy and I was amazed by the advice she received about how she needs to play it so she would As soon as we don't get our way other people and organisations are stupid, idiotic and whateverĮlse. Once again, I am not saying I think Elon Musk is the most amazing personĮver, for all I know he might have a very unpleasant personality, but then again many of these messages show that an unpleasant personality is inside all of us. Well said, I am also quite surprised how quickly somebody is being insulted and called names because they run their business according to whatever plan it is they have. ![]() With to participate in social media, and I find Mastodon clients set that bar lower than the alternatives. I guess I have a pretty low bar when it comes to how much inconvenience I’ll put up I like most about Mastodon though, and the absolute #1 reason I’m more active on Mastodon then I’ve been on either Facebook or Twitter is the plethora of accessible clients. It makes it easier to avoid inflammatory toots and gives me a chance to warn people about something I might be tooting. I also like the content warnings in Mastodon. I also find Mastodon to be moreĬonversational than Twitter or even email, but this may just be the way I use Twitter. I thin this might be in part due to the greater character limits on toots. For me it feels more like something between Twitter and Facebook. I like Mastodon, but I don’t consider it a Twitter replacement. If governments and organizations bring in users which in turn bring in advertisers then this makes sense, but this hasn’t been the case for the last eight years. Elon Musk isn’t out to make Twitter a public square or a utility he’s out to make it profitableĪnd get a return on his investment. The fact that Twitter is used by so many governments and organizations is kind of irrelevant, unless they’re contributing to Twitter’s bottom line. Might as well just go with the flow for now. There will likely be a Twitter 3.0 or 4.0, but who knows what that’ll look like or who will run it. Not just people, but Governments, organizations and so on, it’s hard to see some other platform supplant or replicate what it does any time soon. Who knows, Musk may very well run twitter into bankruptcy as he’s hinted at already and sell it off to whoever and it’ll end up under new management and structure where we’ll be able to go through this all over again. I mean, Mastodon’s “ok,” but it’s like night and day as far as engagement and level of information. Once Spring’s gone, I guess I’ll have to see how I get along with the actual twitter appt itself. I’ve noticed that I can’t reply or retweet, but it’s easy enough to access the option to view a particular tweet in the native Twitter app and do whatever I want with that tweet from there. Spring for the most part is still working. Terrible that the accessibility team was let go along with a lot of other people, but the work they did to make Twitter very accessible is still there. Of the main social media platforms, it slowly became one of the more accessible ones out there. So far, nothing as far as VoiceOver accessibility has broken or at least not that I’ve noticed. I’m riding the bus until the wheels fall off. That Mastodon is not yet a replacement for Twitter and once again we'll have to wait and see if it ever will be or if it will fade back into obscurity as a platform for a small number of users. Whether anybody continues to use Twitter as it is now or not is entirely up to them, nobody who happens to disagree with what he is doing has the right to tell people to get off Twitter and delete their accounts. Really can imagine now and maybe fantastic accessibility is part of it, we'll just have to wait and see. Of course I could be wrong and his vision for Twittter might be something nobody Also Apple has made a clear commitment to accessibilityĪ long time ago now (it started in 2009 with Voiceover being on every product) and I don't think currently Elon Musk has any thoughts for "minor" annoyances like accessibility. However, Apple is a public company and they are held accountable by their shareholders whereas Twitter is now Elon Musk's privately owned company and as such he really can do what he wants. Yes, Apple often does things the way they think people should do them, they even have released devices which didn't really exist because they felt that is what people should use, There is a few big differences between Apple and Twitter.
